Past Projects by GeniusWeb.com
Projects 1996-1999
These years were full of excitement, with many new technologies appearing on the scene and opportunities everywhere. GeniusWeb moved into a storefront in Aberdeen, SD and began hiring.
While many of the sites developed during this period were lost in the dot-com bust, many still remain and do good business thanks largely to practical management by their owners.
GeniusWeb's first client was a shopping mall store called Good Nature. Marianne, the owner, wanted a site that would complement her store, and the sales were so good that she eventually closed up her brick and mortar shop and went 100% online.
GeniusWeb also constructed a large number of sites during this time many of which are still around including some which have undergone 3rd party redesigns since but still depend on us for hosting and software.

During this time GeniusWeb was also busily constructing (time limited) incentive program websites for our partners for use by companies including Aetna US Healthcare, Mohawk Flooring, Cingular Wireless, Mannington Mills, Dr. Pepper, DLT Solutions, Quantum Corporation, Relm Corporation, Tennant Company and many others. Most of these sites were built to provide a one year or shorter incentive program, and handled the management of hundreds of thousands of customer and salespeople records accurately and safely.
GeniusWeb developed a number of programs during this time including the first ever in-browser search engine submission program "Search Stuffer" which later became "Deep Submit," the early server-side scripting independent versions of "GeniusCart," a hosted guestbook service called "Gbook", web counter services, and a lot of other less famous tools as well. Many have served their purpose and faded out of usage over time as better services appeared to take their place.
GeniusWeb also has a number of other sites that we grew during this time including BeadShoppe.com (domain was sold to 3rd party in late 90s), DarkPoetry.com which is still a thriving niche community, DeepSubmit.com (obsolete), and a few other experiments that did not do as well!
Y2K And 911
During the earliest crises of the century GeniusWeb.com scaled back to become a simple consultancy again and survived thanks to employees voluntarily seeking other employment or becoming consultants during the difficult days of the dot-com bust and then shortly after the September 11 tragedies and all the fallout resulting from it.
